I was definitely fantasizing about being the star of my own motorcycle movie. I had Born to Be Wild cranked in my helmet and visions of Easy Rider living free in the 1960s. Gangster movies have their own appeal of narrating tales inspired by real life events which wreaked havoc to humanity. While Hollywood has done a far better job in depicting gangster history, Bollywood has decently managed to make a few movies loosely based and inspired by true gangster lords. This super hit movie which was a big aesthetic surprise for people back in 2002 was rumoured to have been based on the real life friendship of underworld lords Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Rajan, who were pretty close knit prior to the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The movie stars Ajay Devgn and Viveik Oberoi in the lead roles and tells the tale of two gangsters who managed to stay close friends before falling apart.
This Sanjay Gupta venture was supposedly based on the life of Mumbai gangster Manya Surve. The fictionalised account follows Manya, who is in prison for killing a gangster who attacked his brother. When Manya finally gets free, he forms his own gang and vows to seek revenge.
A roof collapsed on a Brazilian church packed with worshippers early today,killing at least 24 people and injuring 500, authorities said. Some 1,300 peoplewere crowded inside the Church of the Universal Kingdom of God in Osasco, aworking-class suburb of south of Sao Paulo, when support beams weakened by waterdamage gave way and the roof came crashing down, firemen said. Many peoplemanaged to flee the building moments before the roof caved in when they heardloud creaking from the structure's enormous wooden support beams. However,hundreds more did not make it out in time. Officials at five area hospitals said500 people were being treated for injuries suffered in the collapse, whichoccurred about 02.00. They said the death toll could rise because many of theinjured were in grave condition. Amateur video taken immediately after thecollapse and broadcast on local television showed victims trapped in the woodand steel rubble and firemen desperately trying to reach them. Firemen said theyused large hand saws to cut through several 2-ft-wide support beams to rescue140 people trapped in the debris. By mid-morning, all of them were freed.Firemen said the roof of the huge wooden structure had been weakened over timebecause of water damage, probably resulting from leaks in the roof.
